What’s the best way to ensure security in the enterprise environment when you’re dealing with a bring-your-own-device (BYOD) flood? “Treat all devices as BYOD,” according to Alan Dabbiere, chairman of enterprise mobility management firm AirWatch.
“When these devices are becoming your car key and house key… it’s almost irresponsible to think that people are not going to use these devices for their personal lives,” Dabbiere said on Thursday’s first panel at our Mobilize conference in San Francisco.
JP Finnell, head of mobile strategy and innovation for SAP Services in North America, also pointed out that BYOD didn’t give administrators much of a choice.
Meanwhile, Microsoft’s corporate VP of cloud and enterprise, Brad Anderson, suggested that IT administrators may get a “false sense of security” if they only institute security at the data center or device level. Anderson said security had to be embedded in the data itself.
